Honor Your Freedom

Honor your freedom today.

While it’s easy to complain about nearly $5 gas, inflation, and the deep cultural divide in America, there is still much to celebrate.

Patriotism in America is down and only 38% of people say they are extremely proud of their country.

I get that.

There’s a lot I’m not happy about either, as a citizen; a tax-paying one at that!

But while there are many things of which to disparage, I am still glad that, by God’s grace, He allowed me to be born in the greatest nation on the face of the earth.

I am still proud to be an American.

That’s not a sinful or ego-centric pride, but more of thankful appreciation for how our country was founded and the good it has done throughout its history.

Born in freedom, graced by God, and protected by the greatest military force in the world, America is still that “shining city on a hill” for the rest of the world to see.

Of course, Jesus originally used those words to describe the church. (Matthew 5: 14-16)

Today, on our nation’s birthday, perhaps it’s better to seek to shine, not whine!

Happy Independence Day!

Pray for America.

Celebrate what’s good about her!

"Of Thee I sing."
